Top Four Lessons That I Have Learnt in The Last Four Years of Running Tara Healthcare

Four years ago, when I founded Tara Healthcare, I had a clear vision of providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients seeking reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. These years have been filled with learning, growth, and transformation—both for me personally and for our clinic as a whole. As I reflect on this journey, here are the top four lessons that have made the most profound impact on me and our clinic:

When I started Tara Healthcare, I knew that the key to success would be putting the patient first. Over the past four years, this belief has only strengthened and become the cornerstone of our practice. Every patient who walks into our clinic brings their unique story, concerns, and goals. Our approach has always been to listen deeply, understand their needs, and tailor our care accordingly. 

What I’ve learned is that in the field of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, medicine is not just about procedures and treatments—it’s about building trust. A successful outcome starts long before a patient enters the operating room; it begins with transparent communication, a shared understanding of expectations, and empathy. I’ve seen that when patients trust their doctor, they are more comfortable throughout the entire process, leading to better results and higher satisfaction. This patient-centric philosophy is what sets Tara Healthcare apart and is a key lesson I carry forward.

Behind every successful clinic is a dedicated, passionate team that believes in the mission as much as the founder. Over the past four years, I’ve learned that no matter how skilled one individual may be, the heart and soul of any medical practice are the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes. 

Our staff—whether it’s the nurses providing care, the administrative professionals managing patient schedules, or my fellow doctors performing complex procedures—has played an instrumental role in the clinic’s success. I’ve learned the importance of building a strong, cohesive team that shares the same vision of excellence and patient care. Cultivating a positive, collaborative work environment has allowed each member of our team to thrive and contribute to our collective mission. This connection enriches the overall experience and strengthens trust—making the process more fulfilling for both the patient and our team. 

4. Quality Over Quantity 

As Tara Healthcare has grown over the years, I’ve come to realise that success in healthcare is not measured by the number of patients we treat, but by the quality of care we provide to each individual. From the beginning, we have intentionally kept our patient volume manageable, ensuring that we can give each patient the personalised, focused care they deserve. This decision has been pivotal in shaping the reputation of our clinic.

Building Tara Healthcare from the ground up has taught me patience, humility, and the value of perseverance. Each of these lessons has not only shaped me as a professional but also allowed our clinic to grow and evolve into the trusted institution it is today. The journey has been one of continuous learning and dedication, but it has also been deeply fulfilling. 

As I reflect on the last four years, I feel an immense sense of gratitude for the patients who have placed their trust in us, and for the team that has worked tirelessly to uphold our values. Dr. Karan Shetty is a board-certified Plastic, Aesthetic & Reconstructive surgeon. He is a dynamic surgeon with special interest in Aesthetic surgery.  

He has completed his training in Super microsurgery from the University of Tokyo, Japan. He was selected for the prestigious DAFPRS (Dutch Association of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons) Fellowship in Rhinoplasty & Facial Aesthetics in Stuttgart, Germany. He has also undergone training in Breast Aesthetics & Body contouring in University Hospital Monclova in Madrid, contouring after Spain under Dr. Jorge Aso. 
Dr. Shetty has a special contouring after massive weight loss to help patients gain confidence to lead an active and fulfilling lifestyle. For the past few years, Dr. Shetty has also focused on rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation. Other interests include Liposuction, Breast augmentation, reduction and Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). 

Dr. Shetty is also working to serve the public as an Assistant Professor in Plastic Surgery in Bangalore Medical College & Research center.
